5 Don't Miss Spots at Palmetto Dunes

When you vacation at Palmetto Dunes, you’ll be hard pressed to find yourself bored. But just in case there’s a moment that finds you wondering what to do next, we have 5 great don’t-miss activities that are part of the ultimate Palmetto Dunes experience. Stay tuned for future posts on more top activities at the resort!

  1. Hike over to the historic Leamington Lighthouse – Did you know the only historic lighthouse on Hilton Head and one of only a few remaining in South Carolina is hidden at Palmetto Dunes? You can find this gem listed on the National Register of Historic Places on the Arthur Hills Golf Course. See if you can catch a sighting of the rumored female ghost wearing a long blue dress.
  2. Check in on Foursquare at the Statue of Neptune – Head across the road to Shelter Cove, full of shops, restaurants and our deep-water marina. It’s there you’ll find the God of the Sea, himself, ready to welcome you to your beach vacation. Grab your smartphone, load up Foursquare for a quick “check in” and get a snapshot to post on Facebook!
  3. Play the 10th hole at Jones – It’s the hole everyone wants to play at Palmetto Dunes. Imagine yourself on the Robert Trent Jones course oceanfront at the famous (or infamous; it depends on how you do!) par-five 10th, club in hand. The views of the Atlantic are breathtaking, and it’s one of only two oceanfront holes on all of Hilton Head Island.
  4. Get fried chicken at the General Store – If you want some delicious, finger-lickin’, good ‘ol southern-style fried chicken, head over to the Palmetto Dunes General Store. Not only can you pick up some sunscreen or the toothbrush you forgot, you can get lunch, too. Just be sure to grab plenty of napkins!
  5. Take a ride in the Dunes Buggy – No, it’s not an actual dunes buggy for racing down the beach, but it is a pretty hip ride that throughout the summer season will transport you anywhere you want to go within Palmetto Dunes and Shelter Cove for the price of – nothing! Just call 45 minutes or so ahead of time and the Dunes Buggy will be on its way to your next destination within the resort.
