Junior Tennis Tournament Gives Young Tennis Fans a Chance to Hone Their Skills

Calling all tennis aficionados 18 and younger. It’s time for the annual Palmetto Dunes Banana Open Junior Challenge! This Hilton Head tennis tournament, in its fifth year, kicks off Friday, April 29 and runs through Sunday, May 1 at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. The tournament benefits the Charles P. Darby Children’s Research Institute at MUSC.

Children of all ages can take a swing at being the top player in their division, which is divided by 8 and younger, 10 and younger, 12 and younger, 14 and younger, 16 and younger, and 18 and younger. All players must know how to keep score, be able to get the serve at least 60% of the time and have been playing for at least one year.

Registration is $35 per person for one event or $40 per person for two events and must be turned in by Sunday, April 24 at 6:30 p.m. The fee includes continental breakfast Saturday and Sunday, fruit on Friday afternoon and all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as a free tournament gift for all players. Plus, you’re invited to the Player Party sponsored by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q at the tennis center on Friday, April 29 at 6 p.m.
