Tennis on Hilton Head Island -- What’s Not to Love?

It’s springtime and that means it’s the perfect time to bring your tennis game to Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort – and Hilton Head Island.

Shortly after the Heritage PGA Tour golf tournament put Hilton Head Island on the map in the 1960s, tennis stars lobbed the island into the tennis stratosphere and Hilton Head has remained a popular, world-class tennis destination ever since.

One of the most popular places for tennis on the island is the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. Recently named the No. 1 tennis resort in the Carolinas and among the top 10 in the nation by Tennis Magazine, Palmetto Dunes is also ranked No. 2 in the world for instruction and events, No. 3 in the world for junior programs and No. 5 in the world overall by our guests via Tennis Resorts Online.

When you book your home or villa through Palmetto Dunes, you can play tennis for free two hours every day. You have your pick of 23 clay and two Nova ProBounce courts at the Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center. Six courts are lighted for night play, just perfect for those warm South Carolina nights.

Atop all of that is a packed schedule of Hilton Head tennis tournaments from February to November. This spring and summer includes the 6th annual Banana Open Junior Challenge, a singles tournament for boys and girls on May 4-6; the 33rd annual Banana Open for men and women competing in singles, doubles and combo mixed doubles from June 1-3. Don’t forget the 5th annual Palmetto Dunes Tennis Fall Classic from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 that features men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles.

And if you’d like to improve your game, join our weekly complimentary tennis exhibitions Mondays at 5:30 p.m. to watch our pros battle it out on Centre Court while you enjoy cocktails. On Tuesdays, we also offer Demo Days at 2 p.m., where you can try out the latest in racquet technology and ask our pros any questions you have.

Join us for a game, set or match. Tennis, Hilton Head Island and Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. That’s a classic combination.
