TIPS FROM THE PROS:
Great Shots from the Three Toughest Lies!

Uphill Lies:
Adjust your stance so you are aligned to the right of your target since balls will hook on uphill lies due to sidespin. Make all of your adjustments prior to swinging and be sure to choke further down on the club with your balance centered over your thighs and the ball.
Downhill Lies:
Align yourself to the left of your target since downhill lies cause the ball to fade. Your weight is likely to fall towards your toes so be sure to center your balance, focusing on your lower-body. It is also more effective to take on more club to compensate for likely lost distance.
Sidehill Lies:
When standing sidehill with the front or back foot higher than the other, you need to compensate for altered loft. Changes in loft can reduce shot distances by up to three clubs in some circumstances, so be sure to take an extra club or two.

Canadians headed south for the winter months may enjoy the instruction of Canadian-born, French-speaking golf pro Michel Dion at Palmetto Dunes Golf Academy. Born in Granby, Quebec, Dion was a goalie in the NHL who later pursued his love of golf. He studied under David Leadbetter and caddied for head pro Doug Weaver in several professional events, including the 1993 U.S. Open.
