TIPS FROM THE PROS:

3 Quick Tips to Improve Your Game!
Contributed by Doug Weaver, Director of Golf Instruction, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
Alligator Arms:
Alligators have short arms and golfers need to take a cue from these reptiles. When you keep your arms, more precisely your elbows, close to your ribs then the swing is more likely to be controlled by your body.
Big Muscles, Not Little Muscles:
Your hands do most day-to-day activities and when golfers play, they tend to control the club with their hands and arms, which have small muscles compared to the hips and thighs. Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods both intentionally developed strong legs. Remember this, the power lies in your hips and thighs not in your hands.
Golf is a Game of Opposites:
Golf is a game of opposites, the harder you try the worse you do. This is why golf is so frustrating to so many. What your mind tells you and what should actually happen during the swing can be entirely different.
Our instructional programs will provide opportunities for you to experience the proper golf swing for you and your equipment. The private lessons, three-hour classes and 50-minute clinics all include supervised instruction with patient and gracious instructors.
"Your memorable quotes — 'alligator arms' and 'golf is a game of ease, etc…' stick in my mind. They are great learning aids since they are so easy to remember and apply what I learned." —Dave Stewart & Mary Riopelle

ON THE COURSE:

Making Hazards Your Friend
Contributed by Brad Marra, Director of Golf, Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort
Palmetto Dunes is home to some of the best golfing in the country and features three top-rated courses. Next time you're playing Jones, Fazio or Hills, keep an eye out for the hazards below and learn to use these to your benefit and enjoy them as opposed to being intimidated.
• Arthur Hills: On the 12th hole, the fairway appears small and the lake looks big (if you do end up in the lake, your ball will reside within a sunken Indian dugout canoe).
• Robert Trent Jones: The 6th hole has the biggest and deepest bunker on the course. Make sure you use a lob wedge and a full swing! The 8th hole is flat, blocking the fairway. Try not to look at the lake or the bunker but focus aim on the 150-yard marker.
• George Fazio: The last 4 holes of Fazio are the most difficult on the island, but can be overcome by aiming. The
Fazio is considered a tough course for its elevated greens, among other things. Accounting for elevation in your swing can help you save strokes.
Remember that most hazards are optical illusions and can be overcome simply by aiming. By purchasing a yardage book, you'll be able to see each course layout and make better decisions. You'll be able to play with more confidence and save money on golf balls and strokes, no matter your skill level!
Reserve your next tee-time on any of our three championship courses now or call 866-627-4506.
