New Friday Night Island Sunset Celebration Debuts at Shelter Cove Harbour this Summer
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – While Shelter Cove Harbour may be best known for its annual HarbourFest celebration each summer, now in its 25th year, the popular marina and outdoor Mediterranean-style village is adding a new family festival and concert at the King Neptune statue to its line-up this year. Parrot Palooza, an island sunset celebration, will take place every Friday evening beginning at 5 p.m., starting June 21 through mid-August.
Parrot Palooza will feature street performers, entertainers, music, food, drinks and more around Neptune statue. With the Shelter Cove sunset as a backdrop, Parrot Palooza’s Jimmy Buffet style concert begins at 7 p.m. at the stage and features fan-favorite and HarbourFest staple Shannon Tanner with his 5-piece band, the Oyster Reefers. The musicians will perform Jimmy Buffet and other island-style music each Friday from 7-9 p.m.
As part of Parrot Palooza, Shelter Cove Harbour restaurants will be offering island-themed drink specials, and the amphitheatre will be decorated with a Caribbean theme complete with palm trees, margaritas, parrots and more. There will also be other island-themed activities and entertainment designed for family fun.
Parrot Palooza’s Island Sunset Celebration festival and Jimmy Buffet tribute concert take place on the following Fridays: June 21 & 28; July 5, 12, 19 & 26; and August 2, 9 & 16.
“When you come to Hilton Head Island, you’re automatically in the island vacation mindset – almost as soon as you cross over the bridge! We want to capture that ‘it’s 5 o’clock’ somewhere feel for our vacationers with this fun new sunset show on Friday evenings,” says Karen Kozemchak, director of marketing for Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort and Shelter Cove Harbour. “Adding the beloved Shannon Tanner, who’s been playing at HarbourFest for 25 years, to the mix with a new musical performance, was the finishing touch, and we hope it becomes as well liked as HarbourFest.”
Shelter Cove Harbour is a Mediterranean-style village located mid-island at mile marker 8 across from Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, offering waterfront dining, shopping, live entertainment and beautiful views of Broad Creek.
