Palmetto Dunes Resort to Host 2007 Amateur Golf Tour National Championship October 27-28

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (September 4, 2007) - The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes again will host the Amateur Golf Tour national championship in what promises to be the largest amateur golf event in the history of Hilton Head Island.

For the second consecutive year, the Amateur Golf Tour, America's largest tour for amateur golfers, has selected the world-class Palmetto Dunes Resort to host the prestigious AGT National Championship. Scheduled for October 27 and 28, the 2007 AGT National Championship is expected to draw more than 600 golfers from the tour's 30 divisions to compete on six golf courses. The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes will be the headquarters for the event. The George Fazio and Robert Trent Jones courses will each host flights and will be joined by Robber's Row and Planters Row at Port Royal Plantation and Oyster Reef in hosting the competition.

"This is the second time the Amateur Golf Tour has honored Palmetto Dunes Resort and the Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes by selecting us as a showcase for the annual national championship," says Bret Martin, Greenwood's vice president of resort operations. "We are confident the inviting fairways, stands of live oak and pine trees, and the winding lagoon system on the Hills course will challenge even the most skilled amateur golfer."

Rated one of America's "Top 10 New Courses" by Golf Magazine, the Arthur Hills Course earned a rating of four out of five stars in Golf Digest's annual "Places to Play" guide. Golf Digest's discerning readers consistently rate the Hills course the top resort course on Hilton Head Island, a location widely renowned for world-class golf.

The Arthur Hills Course at Palmetto Dunes will serve as a prime venue not only for championship play, but also for manufacturers' demonstration day on Oct. 27. Greenwood Development Corporation, owner and operator of Palmetto Dunes Resort, has set aside several areas on the range where golfers may try out new equipment and view the latest in golf apparel from some of the sport's leading manufacturers.

When the final round of play is completed on October 28, players will gather for the Hills course lunch and the final scoring. The traditional awards ceremony will take place immediately afterward in front of the Official Score Board.

Interest in the 2007 AGT National Championship has been building ever since last year's national championship when Joe Jaspers of Charlotte fired a course record 67 to win the Championship Flight, the category for amateur golfers with a 0-5 handicap. History also was made in the A Flight, the category for amateur golfers with a 6-10 handicap, when Katja Dammann of Pinehurst, N.C. became the first female champion in tour history.

Palmetto Dunes, Hilton Head Island's premier resort and family destination, features three worldclass golf courses, each one rated is four stars or better by Golf Digest and has been designed by a world-class golf course architect. Golf for Women magazine recognized Palmetto Dunes as one of the "Top 25 Family Golf Resorts" in the country. The Hills course is the signature design for Arthur Hills, who has designed more than185 golf courses during a career that spans 40 years.

In addition to superb golf facilities, Palmetto Dunes Resort features the award-winning Palmetto Dunes Tennis Center, an 11-mile lagoon, the 175-slip Shelter Cove Marina, the Palmetto Dunes Outfitters adventure center, plus accommodations, shopping, dining and one of the best beaches on
the Eastern seaboard.

Palmetto Dunes Resort enjoys a top-notch reputation as a quality resort destination and was recently ranked the No. 1 family resort in the world by Travel + Leisure Family magazine.

"The families of golfers who are competing in the 2007 AGT Tour Championship will have a wide range of amenities to choose from during their stay at Palmetto Dunes Resort," Martin says. "We have biking, golf, tennis, water sports, fishing - more than enough activities to please every age group and every interest."
