While when it comes to getting around Hilton Head Island, a bike is usually the way to go, this spring and summer you can ditch the wheels for a good old-fashioned foot race right here at Palmetto Dunes!
For the second year in a row, the Palmetto Dunes Property Owners Association is launching its Turtle Trot 5K race series — and you’re invited! Two equally stunning 3.1-mile routes have been created that take you over sand, under shaded oak canopies, and along our lagoon and beautiful oceanfront so you can start your day by trotting past the best that Palmetto Dunes has to offer.
Each race starts at 8 am on Wednesday mornings. You can sign up in advance or register in person beginning at 7am. Then, it’s off to the races! Depending on which week you participate, you’ll be running a beach or road route. Check out the schedule below.
Not only is the Turtle Trot an amazing way to start your day, it’s a fun event regardless of your age or fitness level! We’ve had many people walk the route and we love seeing kids having fun participating. In fact, we encourage you to bring the whole family along! Kids aged 12 and under race for free.
The registration fee is $25 for each race, which includes a Turtle Trot t-shirt. The proceeds from every race go to the Palmetto Dunes Cares Fund, a local charity that promotes health, environment, arts and culture, community development, and education on Hilton Head Island. After you’ve finished your route, stick around for some light snacks and drinks.
Are you ready to turn your fun in the sun into run in the sun? Sign up for a Turtle Trot race today.
