HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. -- Shelter Cove Harbour has hired a new fireworks vendor to complete the remaining Tuesday evening HarbourFest fireworks shows scheduled for July 12, 19 & 26, Aug. 2, 9 & 16 with a new summer season finale show added Aug. 23. Falcon Fireworks, a 25-year-old pyrotechnics company based outside of Savannah in Guyton, Ga., will take over the HarbourFest show, a 28-year Hilton Head tradition.
“We are excited to announce that Falcon Fireworks has stepped up to run HarbourFest fireworks for the rest of the summer and are pleased to add one more show Aug. 23 for locals and visitors to enjoy this longtime island tradition,” says Karen Kozemchak, director of marketing for Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, which operates Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina.
Falcon Fireworks, which has run HarbourTown fireworks for many years and produces pyrotechnic shows up and down the East Coast, including more than 40 shows on July 4 alone, has upgraded the HarbourFest show to make the fireworks more visible and will be using different firing techniques. “We look forward to making a great first impression on Tuesday and enjoying a successful run for the rest of the summer,” says Brent Fisher, owner of the company.
The company worked with the Shelter Cove Harbour & Marina team this week to take the barge holding the existing equipment down to Savannah to replace it with new equipment in time for Tuesday’s show. Unfortunately, this requirement did not allow for make-up fireworks show the same week as July 4.
All remaining summer HarbourFest fireworks will take place at 9:30 p.m. weather permitting for set-up and launch. If Tuesday night fireworks are cancelled due to weather, every attempt will be made to launch the fireworks on the following day/rain date (Wednesdays) at 9:30 p.m.
Other HarbourFest activities include musician Shannon Tanner’s nightly family-friendly performances at Monday-Friday at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., Cappy the Clown from 6-9 p.m., face painting, bounce houses, balloon animals, arts & crafts, practice putting and a variety of interactive games and activities.
