Beach Lounging
It might sound simple, but relaxing on the beach can be a great activity for toddlers. Grab your buckets, shovels, and get ready to make some seriously cool castles! Need a beach chair or umbrella to keep an eye on the kids while you relax? We’ve got you covered.

Ages 5-10

Bike the Beach
The wind in your hair and a little sand on your feet is the best way to experience the great outdoors! Hilton Head Outfitters offers bike rentals for all sizes, including bikes perfect for young ones. The pedal-activated coaster brakes work great on the beach, leaving room to explore between the dunes.

Connect with Critters
There’s no better way to learn about the Lowcountry than from the locals—even the smallest inhabitants! It’s easy to connect with nature on Hilton Head Island. While you’re at the beach, you can spot tiny ocean critters, sea-turtle nests, and even dolphins! It’s like nature’s own treasure hunt.

Private Surfing Lessons
For younger children, private surfing lessons are a fun, safe introduction to the sport. The lessons last for 90 minutes with certified instructors, so you can feel comfortable watching them ride the (gentle) waves!

Ages 11-15

Bike the Trails
With more than 80 miles of trails connecting you to anywhere you want to go, the island is truly your oyster—and it’s time to work up your appetite! Your kids will love exploring the Spanish Moss-draped paths with a bike rental from Hilton Head Outfitters.

Kayak the Lagoon
Who would win a kids versus parents race? Come find out! With single and double kayak rentals, you can explore the beautiful lagoon with the whole family.

SUP (Surf’s Up)
You and your kids can ride the waves straight into family fun! Paddleboard and surfboard rentals are a great way to enjoy the salt water and get active. For beginners, group lessons are available if you want to learn, but if you’re already comfortable with a board you can head straight for the salty water.

Ages 16+

Go Fishing in a Canoe
Triple canoe rentals are the perfect solution for families who want to explore the lagoon together, because the family that fishes together, stays together! These canoes can accommodate two adults with two small children plus fishing equipment, which you can also rent from us.

Ocean Paddleboarding
Renting a paddleboard is a great way to explore the island’s calm oceans. Standing up, you’ll be in a prime position to spot sea creatures swimming beneath you, or something exciting on the horizon! The activity is a great workout, and perfect for more independent, older children.

Now that you’ve got the perfect itinerary for family fun, there’s only one thing left for you to do: get outside! Don’t forget to share your family selfies with us using #Lowcountry lifestyle to show us how you enjoy the great outdoors on Hilton Head Island.
