The Palmetto Dunes Golf Courses Are Ready When You Are

Planning Your Vacation

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort will be here, when the time is right for you to return to Hilton Head Island’s favorite family resort. Memories are ready to be made. The best times are yet to come.

In our unwavering commitment to ensure your safety, we have implemented numerous COVID-19 safety protocols. These include enhanced cleaning and sanitizing procedures, as well as adjusted hours of operations. Our goal still remains the same: provide exceptional service while keeping you and our staff safe.

We continue to update our website, which recently received a makeover, with the latest information on our resort operations. For more information on our current COVID-19 protocols and closures, please visit this dedicated page.

Dunes and golf course hills with sun glare in the top right

All three of the world-class golf courses at Palmetto Dunes have been recently aerated and are in pristine condition. In addition, we have new golf carts at the Robert Trent Jones and George Fazio Courses, renovated bathrooms on the Arthur Hills Course and Fazio Clubhouse, as well as new mats at the Robert Trent Jones Course Driving Range

Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort has enjoyed a storied, 50-plus year history and numerous current employees have been around for a majority of that special time. Combined, the leaders of the Palmetto Dunes golf team have more than a century of experience at the resort between them. Director of Instruction Doug Weaver has been involved at Palmetto Dunes off and on for nearly four decades. Director of Golf Clark Sinclair has been at the resort for 36 years, while Samm Wolfe — the Head Golf Professional and General Manager at the Arthur Hills Course, as well as the Membership Director for all three courses — has been at Palmetto Dunes for 34 years.

Samm recently showed us how to practice putting at home to brush up on your golf game. Meanwhile, Doug has helped us answer the question: Is a cross-handed putting grip right for you? The former PGA Tour player also showed us how to hit a flop shot.

Doug Weaver teaches swing technique to student

Doug says the Palmetto Dunes Golf Academy has remained active during the Covid-19 pandemic. “We’re teaching private golf lessons and obeying all social distancing rules,” Doug said of the popular Hilton Head golf academy. “Many students are improving (during the quarantine). Students ride in their own cart and handle their clubs. I use a lot of pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words.”

We are currently offering 15 percent off tee times at our three distinct, award-winning layouts.

The Robert Trent Jones Oceanfront Course was ranked No. 20 in a recent listing of the state’s “Best Classic Courses” by the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel. Its signature hole, the dramatic par-five 10th, which was named a South Carolina Dream Hole, offers sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and is widely considered one of the most spectacular holes in the United States.

The Arthur Hills Course takes full advantage of the natural beauty of this South Carolina sea island. Another prior South Carolina Course of the Year, this spectacular layout represents a careful blend of beauty and challenge. Built on a series of rolling dunes, the Arthur Hills Course presents many opportunities for off-balance lies, while ocean breezes add to the challenge.

Last but certainly not least, the George Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort, the island’s only par-70 course, is regarded as one of Hilton Head Island’s most challenging championship course.  The Fazio Course has been ranked among America’s Top 100 courses.

All three golf courses at Palmetto Dunes have been named the “South Carolina Golf Course of the Year.”

Of course, golf is just one of the endless activities to be enjoyed at Palmetto Dunes. We are currently offering 10 percent off bike and kayak rentals, as well as free tennis or pickleball court time based on availability. As for the resort dining, we are currently offering 10 percent off at Big Jim's, The Dunes House and Alexander's Restaurant & Wine Bar, as well.

We want you to know that through this challenging time, Palmetto Dunes remains here for you and your family, as we have for more than a half-century. Come see us and enjoy our world-class amenities — when the time is right for you!
